Early Stages of Convention Fever

Okay, so it's a year away but I'm not the only one who has the symptoms of early onset political convention fever. As I tell everyone who will listen - and some who don't want to - "Next summer, the Democratic Convention is going to be in Denver and HEAR THIS: Somebody with boobs, somebody black, SOMEBODY is getting something they never got before and and History is going to be made ... right ... here."

I've got some evil plans to score a press pass and nose my way into some bizarre situations ...

...or...you could get involved with your local grassroots political groups and get in that way.

Yes, I thought about that but if I get involved in groups, I can't report on it objectively and I'll be covering it for the Santa Barbara Independent - kinda like their 'Westword.'

Howard: YOU ARE ON, BABY! You would make a perfect DemCon partner-in-crime.

"Yes, I thought about that but if I get involved in groups, I can't report on it objectively and I'll be covering it for the Santa Barbara Independent " - as far as not falling into line lock-step with the Dems, no worries!

We're Progressive Democrats, not Republicans.

I'm very vocal in all my political groups as to how I feel on topics and while some of my close buddies have called me a closet Republican ( so not true), that doesn't stop me from giving my own two cents.

Also, for the 2004 DNC in Boston they did have press passes for bloggers...something they will have to have in 2008 as well.

My goal is to get said press pass, either blogging as my own voice or aligned with Squarestate where I also blog.

A recurring theme here at Yearly Kos is that our political-process needs to be people-powered.

Given the caliber of your writing...especially your political writing..come on over to Square State to establish your voice and take it from there.

It definitely can't hurt and you may be surprised how warmly you are welcomed.
